GQ w/ AB: A Eulogy for Tony BigCharles

RIP Tony BigCharles
August 20th, 2006 - March 19, 2008

Frankly, I never thought I’d last longer on this website than Tony BigCharles. That lovable, albeit misguided, misogynist who warmed our hearts and brought us laughter, always at his expense, is gone for good. With one mighty blow from his right thumb upon the ban button, Joeker mercifully euthanized Tony before he could offend yet another woman on PartTimePoker.

But this is not a time to bring up the bad. Let’s talk about how Tony made us chuckle, made us smile, made us think deeply about ourselves, made us feel so much better about ourselves.

The first memory I have of Tony is way back when I actually played poker regularly. I remembered thinking he was a little strange, but not a horrible player in any sense of the word. In fact, he was probably among the top 25 players on Neverbeg at the time. Unfortunately, that ended up being his finest moment.

As a great poet once wrote:

Sometimes you eat the bear,
Sometimes the bear eats you.
When I wake up in the morning,
Will this still hold true?

We must now move on with our lives, sans Bigcharles. How hard that will be will be up to each individual. Will we eat the bear? Or will the bear eat us?

The sun will rise tomorrow. Remember, Tony Bigcharles will probably be looking at that same sun, so somehow, we will still be connected with him (creepy huh?).
